From extended reality program design to digital effects for social media, Alkek One’s innovative workshops offer students, faculty, and staff a vast array of learning opportunities. Designed and conducted by dedicated and trailblazing experts, Alkek One workshops afford participants the opportunity to challenge themselves, learn collaboratively, and build real-world skills using the new and emerging technologies featured on the library’s first floor.
Immersive learning
The dynamic and engaging Unity XR Development workshop series is one example of this progressive instructional model. Led by Dr. Khoi Nguyen, the Unity XR workshop provides hands-on learning experiences in Unity’s industry-advancing graphics integration engine. Not only does the workshop allow for an immersive experience, but participants also work collaboratively to build and apply new skills.
A hub of innovation
Learning through trial and error is encouraged in Alkek One. Dr. Nguyen explains, “A class must challenge you. Only through confusion do we gain confidence; only through struggle do we gain strength.” Workshops invite technological exploration and application across disciplines. Participants can choose from seminars in podcast editing, image manipulation, brand building, fabric printing, 3D design, GIS (Geographical Information System) data, and green screen production–to name a few–and the workshops are led by experts who are eager to help.
Everyone is welcome
Current students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to sign up for Alkek One workshops. While some courses are for advanced learners, many more are conducted at a beginner level. So, whether you are a seasoned technophile or newbie, Alkek One has workshops for you!
